Piaget's Theory of Cognitive Development:

  • Sensorimotor Stage (0-2 years)
Infants learn through direct sensory and motor contact. A key milestone is object permanence (understanding that objects continue to exist even when out of sight). Sprouts Learning Videos

  • Preoperational Stage (2-7 years)
Children engage in symbolic play and language, but their thinking is still intuitive and egocentric. They struggle with logic, conservation, and taking others’ perspectives. Sprouts Learning Videos

  • Concrete Operational Stage (7-11 years)
Thinking becomes more logical and organized when dealing with concrete (real, tangible) information. Children master conservation, classification, seriation. Sprouts Learning Videos

  • Formal Operational Stage (11+ years)
Adolescents develop abstract, hypothetical, and deductive reasoning. They can think about possibilities, “what-ifs,” and abstract concepts.
